I have a John Deere maine engine in my boat. Recently, the engine started speeding up and slowing down while clamming. We normally pull these clam tongs a 1,000 RPM. The engine started speeding up to 1,200 RPM and backdown to 800 RPM on it's own, making it almost impossible to work the tongs smoothly. Also, it would quit completely at idle.

The John Deer mechanic said that I needed a new fuel pump. My next door neighbor brought me a gallon of Bishop's Original Diesel Fuel Treatment. I put it in the next day and it ceased the problem immediately.

I'll never be without it again and will install the engine protection at my next oil change.
